Twelve Saints Finish in Top 5 at Saginaw Valley State

SAGINAW, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team competed at the Saginaw Valley State University Invitational on Friday. The Saints had 12 student-athletes finish in the top five of their respective events. 

Matthew Gipple led the way for SHU with a first-place finish in the long jump after an A-Standard mark of 7.14m. Gipple also competed in the 60 meters, where he recorded a B-Standard of 6.91 seconds in the final race.

Zachary Gipple had a B-Standard mark in the shot put with his heave of 15.58m that earned him second in the event. Joshua Cundy finished second in the 400 meter with a time of 50.79 seconds. Nassr Abdullah competed in the 600 meter, earning second place after crossing the finish line at 1:23.22. Timothy Werner cleared the bar in the pole vault at the height of 4.24m to place second in that event. 

Alan Alston earned fourth in the pole vault when he cleared the bar at 4.09m. Davion Curry also earned fourth in the long jump. His best leap was 6.75m. The 4x400 relay team of Jacob Sand, Andrew Milosavlevski, Joshua Cundy, Abdullah Nassr finished fourth with a time of 3:29.31.

Jefferson Edwards threw the shot put 14.55m and the weight 15.38m to earn fourth in both throwing events. 

Jacob Sand was a fifth-place finisher in the 400m with 52.07. Cedric Grant earned fifth in the 800m after he finished the race in 2:01.12. Sebastian Hamilton was the final top-five finisher for the Saints as he threw the shot put 14.36m to earn the placing.
