Saints Kick Off Outdoor Season Finishing 6th at Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The Siena Heights men's indoor track and field team finished 6th out of 24 teams with 53 points at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Outdoor Open on Saturday. The Saints were the highest placing NAIA team at the met against NCAA Division I and Division II schools. Davion Curry highlighted the day for SHU as he won the long jump and was the top NAIA finisher in the event with a distance of 6.98m (22' 11"). 

OTHER TOP 10 FINISHES

The 4x100 relay team consisting of Jason Baird, Noah Cunningham, Davion Curry, and Matthew Gipple was the top NAIA finishing team placing 2nd with a time of 43.19 seconds. 

Matthew Gipple finished 3rd in the long jump with a distance of 6.68m (21' 11"). He also had a time of 10.85 seconds in the 100m for 4th place and was the top NAIA finisher in the event.

Elijah Kimmons had a height of 1.90m (6' 2.75") in the high jump earning 4th place for a personal record and was the top NAIA finisher.

Timothy Werner cleared the bar at 4.36m (14' 3.5") in the pole vault that was good for 5th place earning a new personal record.

Zachery Kunst earned 5th in the discus with a distance of 46.70m (153' 2"). He also recorded a 10th place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.48m (159 ' 1"). He was the top NAIA finisher in both of those events.

Noah Cunningham competed in the javelin throw with a distance of 48.02m (157' 6") finished in 5th place recording a personal record being the top NAIA finisher. 

Zachary Gipple placed 6th in the shot put with a distance of 15.64m (51' 3.75").

Naythan Haslam competed in the 200m with a time of 22.16 seconds for 8th place.

The 4x400 relay team consisting of Naythan Haslman, Rees Nemeth, Noah Cunningham, and Jacob Sand recorded an 8th place finish with a time of 3:32.59.

Jason Baird rounded out the top SHU finishers clearing the bar at 4.06m (13' 3.75") in the pole vault finished 9th.
