Rodden Earns First as Men's Track & Field Competes at Saginaw Valley Holiday Classic

SAGINAW, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's track and field team earned a lone first place finish, Brent Rodden in the 800m, as the team garnered three automatic performances and four provisional performances at the Saginaw Valley Holiday Classic.

Taking first place in the 800m run was Brent Rodden, crossing the finish line at 1:52.37 (1:53.98 converted for the oversized track) to beat the second place competitor by over two seconds. Rodden currently ranks first in the NAIA in this event.

In the high jump, Juwan Willis took second place, clearing the bar at a provisional height of 1.98m (6-6) to ranks sixth in the NAIA.

Jacob Compagner managed an automatic performance in the weight throw and a provisional performance in the shot put while Robert Drew had a provisional performance in each. Compagner took third in the weight throw with a a toss of 17.68m (58-1/4) and fourth in the shot put with a 15.37 (50-5 1/4). Drew finished sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 16.61m (54-6) and fifth in the shot put, just .01 meters behind Compagner, as he threw 15.36 (50-4 3/4). In the NAIA, Compagner and Drew rank third and fourth, respectively, in the shot put while Compagner ranks third in the weight throw.

Earning an automatic performance in the pole vault was Devonte Johnson as he cleared the vault at 4.86 meters (15-11 1/4) to take fourth, which ranks him third in the NAIA.

Blaine Ellington sprint to a third place finish in the 60 meter dash, improving to a 7.01 seconds time in the final round from a 7.06 preliminary time. Others claiming third place were Liam Heaney in the one mile run, finishing in 4:24.74, and Jareb Duggan in the 3000m run, finishing in 9:15.80.

The Saints will return to action next semester after the winter break.
