Men's Track and Field Find Success at Don Kleinow Invitational

ADRIAN, Mich. – On a cold and cloudy day the Siena Heights men's track and field team hosted the Don Kleinow Invitational over Easter weekend. SHU ended with seven first place finishes, an automatic-qualifying performance and two provisional-qualifying performances.

The Saints finished first in the 4x100m relay, crossing the finish line in 43.20 seconds. SHU also took first place in the 4x400 meter in a close race, the Saints winning by .03 seconds over Calvin. Siena Heights finished in 3:20.23 as Calvin came in close behind at 3:20.26.

Finishing first and second in the 100m dash was Blaine Ellington and John Gillingham. Ellington finished in 11.14 seconds and Gillingham in 11.31 seconds.

Robert Drew took first place in the shot put with a toss of 14.42m. In the discus, Drew took third with a distance of 46.63 meters.

Anthony Vermilye took first place in the 1500m run with a time of 4:00.46.

In the 800m run, Brent Rodden claimed first place in a provisional-qualifying time of 1:53.33.

Keith Jordan cleared the bar at 2.00m to earn first place in the high jump.

Throwing an automatic-qualifying distance of 52.93 meters in the hammer throw was Jacob Compagner.

Taking second in the 200m dash in 22.60 seconds was Robert Milton.

With a provisional-qualifying time of 14:58.69 seconds in the 5000 meter run was Stephen Merchant, finishing in second.

Torin Anderson took second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.13 seconds.

Siena Heights will return to action at the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State on Friday and Saturday.
