Men's T&F Earns First Place at Aquinas Quad Meet #2

The Siena Heights men's track and field team finished first of four teams at the Aquinas Quad Meet #2, on Friday. The Saints earned 10 first place finishes, two automatic-qualifying performances and two provisional-qualifying performances.

With a convincing 183.5 points, the Saints earned first place followed by Aquinas at 131 points. In third and fourth place was Hope with 108.5 points and Spring Arbor with 79 points.

SHU took first place in the 4x800m relay with an automatic-qualifying time of 7:47.68, beating the seconds place team Aquinas by over 10 seconds. The Saints also took first place in the 4x400m relay, finishing in 3:24.16 seconds.

Siena Heights claimed five of the top seven places in the weight throw led by Jacob Compagner with a 17.82 meter (58 feet, 5-75 inches), automatic-qualifying toss for first place. In second with a toss on 15.05m (49-4.5) was Michael March.

Improving on his 1000m run time was Anthony Vermilye, finishing in a provisional time of 2:32.26, five seconds faster than the second-place performer.

With a season-best time of 8.30 seconds, Joshua Jenkins finished first in the 60m hurdles meeting the provisional-qualifying time. Jenkins also took second place in the long jump with a distance of 6.76m (22-2.25).

Stephen Merchant claimed first place in the mile with a time of 4:32.07 and first place in the 3000m run in 9:12.20.

Robert Milton earned first place in the 200m dash with a time of 22.84 seconds. He was followed by Torin Anderson, who finished in third in 23.02 seconds. Anderson took first in the 400m run in 50.62 seconds.

Claiming the first two places in the 800m dash was Brent Rodden and Dominic Muessig, crossing the finish line at 1:58.50 and 2:00.41, respectively.

In the 600m run, Joshua Miles and Ryan Dukes finished second and third, respectively. Miles coming in at 1:25.82 followed by Dukes at 1:26.31.

In the shot put, Robert Drew earned third place with a 14.47m (47-5.75) toss.

Clearing the high jump bar at 1.91m (6 feet, 3.25 inches) was Juwan Willis, earning third place.

Siena Heights will be back in action when they travel to Trine on Friday and Grand Valley State on Saturday.
