Nine First Place Performances Lead Men's T&F to Success at SVSU

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's track and field team earned nine first place finishes, including two automatic and one provisional qualifying performances, at the Saginaw Valley State Classic, on Saturday.

In the 600m run, Brent Rodden earned first place with a season-best and automatic-qualifying time of 1:20.67 on the oversized track.

Anthony Vermilye won the 800m race with an automatic-qualifying time of 1:55.04, improving his previous times. Ryan Dukes took fifth in 1:58.84.

Jacob Compagner threw a provisional distance of 16.89m (55-5) in the weight throw for his best throw of the season. Robert Drew and Michael March improved to 14.55m (47-9) and 14.48m (47-6.25), respectively, for fourth and fifth place.

Torin Anderson and Dominic Muessig finished first and third, respectively, in the 400m dash. Anderson finished in 50.46 seconds followed by an improved time for Muessig at 51.35 seconds.

Winning the 60m dash was Shae McClary in 7.08 seconds for a season-best time. Robert Milton earned third in 7.16 seconds and Andre Thornton finished fifth in 7.24 seconds.

Milton earned first place in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line at 22.47 seconds. Anderson and McClary finished third and fourth at 23.02 and 23.14 seconds, respectively.

Siena Heights won the 4x400m relay by 0.11 seconds over Saginaw Valley. Earning the 3:26.12 time was Dukes, William Jackson, Rodden and Muessig.

The Saints swept the top-three spots in the 3000 meter run, Samuel Parlette earning the top-spot in 8:56.70. Stephen Merchant and Esrom Woldemichael followed at 8:59.13 and 9:07.17, respectively. Parlette finished third in the one mile with a time of 4:24.84.

Juwan Willis won the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.98 meters (6 feet, 6 inches).

Improving their distances in the weight throw was Compagner and Drew. Compagner took third with a toss of 14.01 meters (15-11.75) and Drew finished fourth with a 13.62m (44-8.25) toss.

Earning second in the pole-vault was Jared Kimmit, clearing the bar at 4.41 meters (14 feet, 5.5 inches).

Joshua Jenkins finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.50 seconds.

The Saints will be back in action on Friday at the Aquinas Quad Meet and Saturday at the Findlay Classic.
