Four First Place Finishes for Men's T&F at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's track and field team earned four first place performances and improved on six automatic-qualifying performances at the 50th Annual Hillsdale College "GINA" Relays, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Taking first in the high jump, Gerald Richardson cleared the bar at 6 feet, 11 inches (2.11m), earning a career-PR and the No. 3 ranking in the NAIA.

In the discus throw, Patrick Goebel earned first place with a toss of 165-9 (50.52 meters), improving his previous auto-qualifying mark.

Zakary Haines won the 400m dash championship by 0.004 seconds, finishing in 48.011 seconds to improve his auto-time and his career-PR.

The 4x800 meter relay team for SHU earned first place, finishing in 7:42.56, to improve their previous auto-time and move up to No. 5 in the NAIA ranks. Relay members were Anthony Vermilye, Austin Elliot, Brent Rodden and Dominic Muessig.

Frederick Boyd took second after finishing in the 110m hurdles in 14.58 seconds.

In the pole vault, Richard DePalma cleared the bar at 16-6.75 (5.05 meters) to improve his auto-mark and rank second in the NAIA.

With a new auto-qualifying mark, Paul Jacobs threw 173 feet, 10 inches (52.98m) in the hammer toss for a career-PR.

The Saints will be back in action when they host the WHAC Track and Field Championship on Thursday and Friday.
