#4 Men's Track & Field Take Runner-Up at WHAC Indoor Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's track and field team finished in second place at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday. The Saints had three first place finishes and three improvements on NAIA automatic or provisional qualifying performances. 

Richard DePalma took the top spot in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 16 feet, 9.25 inches (5.11m). Christopher Whiting finished in second place with an improved height of 15-5 (4.70m) for an NAIA automatic qualifying mark.

In the shot put, Logan Gray threw 53 feet, 3.5 inches (16.24 meters) for first place. Third place performer Robert Drew threw a distance of 51-7 (15.72m).

Winning the 800 meter run, Dominic Muessig finished in 1:54.57. 

Tre' Goynes cleared the bar in the high jump for a season best, NAIA auto-qualifying performance of 6-8.25 (2.04m) and second place. Gerald Richardson took third via tie-breaker with a jump of 6-8.25.

In the 400 meter dash, Zakary Haines finished in second place at 49.49 seconds. Haines also took third in the 200m dash with a time of 22.28 seconds. 

Jacob Compagner threw a season-best in the weight throw with a toss of 58 feet, 1 inch (17.70m), earning second place. 

The Siena Heights men's 4x800m relay took third, finishing in 8:13.43. The 4x400m relay finished with a time of 3:20.05.

In the 60m hurdles, Joshua Jenkins took third, finishing in 8.25 seconds. Javon McQueen took third in the 60m dash with a time of 6.97 seconds. 

As a team, the Saints finished in second with 133 points. Indiana Tech won the event with 182 points. Trailing the Saints were Aquinas (71), Cornerstone (52), Davenport (28) and Concordia (11).

Coach Tim Bauer was awarded with the WHAC Coach of Character award.
