Thomas Goodman enters his first season on the Siena Heights University men’s soccer staff, he has 19 years of experience coaching soccer in England and the United States. “I am very excited to join the SHU soccer program and thankful to Coach Zid for the opportunity. I can’t wait to work with such an experienced coach at a great institution.”

Goodman recently moved from Eugene, Oregon, where he coached boys soccer at Willamette High School (WHS) for five years, winning the league the first time in the school's 63-year history. During his time at WHS, he was awarded 2011 and 2012 MWL Coach of the Year and 2011 Oregon State Coach of the Year. While serving as a high school coach he was also the Director of Coaching for Eugene Soccer Club and the head coach for the 2008 and 2009 u15/u16 girls State Cup Champions – Futbol Unidos ESC, he won the 2009 Oregon Club Coach of the Year Award. In Oregon, Goodman was also a Region IV ODP girls coach, and worked with the U.S. Women’s National Team on several occasions while coaching in Portland.

Since moving to Michigan in 2015, he became the Assistant Director of Coaching at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the girls’ varsity soccer coach at Tecumseh High School where in 2017 he was awarded the Lenawee County Coach of the Year award. Goodman received his BA in Education Foundations from the University of Oregon and Master's Degree in Recreation and Sport Pedagogy with a focus in soccer coaching from Ohio University. He is currently working towards his Doctorate in Higher Education and Leadership at Concordia University.

In Goodman’s early career, he moved to England as a fifteen-year-old and played soccer at Arsenal’s Academy team and was later traded to play professional soccer with Torquay United for two seasons. Goodman was also on the Canadian Olympic Mountain bike team, during an Olympic qualifying event Goodman crashed his bike and was in the hospital for several months ending his athletic career, but starting his coaching career. Goodman has his Level 4 Certificate in Coaching (UEFA A Coaching License), USSF National B Coaching License, FA level 2 Certificate of Coaching, NSCAA Mental/Physical Player Development Special Topic Diploma, Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma and Professional Development Certificate for High School Coaches.

Goodman and his wife Amber, who also works at Siena Heights, live in Adrian, and have two children: Amsel and Lenicka.
