SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. -- Gustavo Lira and Josh Vernier scored two goals apiece as the Siena Heights men's soccer team earned a 6-3 decision over non-conference opponent Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods on Monday.

Gaizka Zandio and Lewis Crombie also had goals for the Saints (1-2). Salvatore Marchionda finished with two assists while Zandio, Carlos Musoles, Matheus Marrote and Lorenzo Lim finished with one assist each.

Ricardo Moreno was the winning goalie for SHU, totaling four saves.

The teams traded goals in the opening half with a Zandio score serving as the Saints' tally in the 1-1 first half.

Vernier scored in the 60th minute before SMWC evened the game at 2-2. Goals by Lira and Vernier pushed the SHU advantage to 4-2.

With Siena Heights up 4-3, Crombie and Lira tacked on insurance goals in the 86th and 89th minute, respectively.

The Saints will return to play on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. visit to NCAA Division III opponent Albion.
