Siena Heights Men's Soccer Suffers Heartbreak in UM-Dearborn Match

ADRIAN, Mich.– The Siena Heights men's soccer team hosted UM-Dearborn, in O'Laughlin Stadium, Wednesday night. The Saints falls in a heartbreaking loss to UM-Dearborn 1-2, putting up a total of 14 shots and five on goal during the match.

Gaizka Zandio scored the Saints goal unassisted. As Marcelo Rocha and Matheus Marrote each held one shot on goal, Mateo Rusca had two. Ricardo Moreno (L,3-3-1) made three saves during his 90:00 minutes of play.

The play was back and forth until the Wolverines found the back of the net at the 20-minute mark to take the lead. Siena would hunker down defensively for the rest of the half and go into halftime down 0-1.  After a heartbreaking miss on a penalty kick, Siena allowed UMD to score once more bringing the score to 0-2. In an effort to come back, the Saints marched down the field to net a ball in the 74th minute. SHU would continue to put pressure on the visiting team but unfortunately would come up short.

SHU hosts Cleary University for the last regular season home game, on Saturday, October 29th at 4:00 PM. University in Sylvania, Ohio on Saturday, October 29th. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
