Siena Heights Men's Soccer Marched to a 1-0 Victory Over Aquinas

ADRIAN, Mich.– The Siena Heights men's soccer hosted the Aquinas College Saints in O'Laughlin Wednesday night. SHU walked away with a 1-0 victory over Aquinas who currently sits in the fourth spot in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings. The huge win brings Siena to a 3-4-1 record in the WHAC and 5-7-1 overall.

Matheus Marrote paved the way for the Saints netting the game-winning goal late in the second half. Wilhem Weissheimer, Cameron Gouin, Lewis Crombie, and Mateo Rusca each had one shot on goal. Goalie Ricardo Moreno (W, 2-2-1) made seven saves during his 90:00-minute appearance to shut out the visiting Aquinas Saints.

The first half remained in a stalemate as both teams battled for control of the ball on the offensive as each team's defense was impenetrable. The second saw much of the same play until SHU scored at the 76th-minute mark to take the lead. During the remaining 14 minutes, SHU held off Aquinas to secure the victory. Holding off 20 total shots from the visiting team, the Siena Heights Saints marched into a 1-0 victory.

Quote from Coach:

"Another great team effort tonight against a top opponent. We dodged some bullets and withstood their pressure and figured out a way to get a great result and a huge three points.
