Siena Heights Men's Soccer Take Down the Cardinals in Homecoming Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's soccer team defeated the Concordia (MI) Cardinal 1-0. The Saints are now 1-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play and 3-5 overall.

Gaizka Zandio scored the goal for Siena shooting 1-3 on the night. Alex Gregory had a shot on goal while Marcelo Cerna tallied one assist. Ricardo Moreno (W,1-0) saw all 90 minutes of action and made one save during the match.

Siena played a physical game at home in O'Laughlin Stadium on Homecoming. The battle saw six yellow cards and a total of 20 fouls. Siena had two good looks on goal unfortunately shooting wide right on both. SHU had 19 shots and in the 81st minute found the back of the net during a scramble off a corner kick from Carlos Musoles. The Saints held off the Cardinal for the remainder of the game, locking in a SHU victory.

"It was a little ugly today but we found a way to get the point that we needed. Especially coming off five losses in a row, those were tough losses. It was very good for the team to get this win. Hopefully, it will propel us forward, to be better and get more points to work our way up the table."
