Siena Heights Men’s Soccer Stumbles in Cornerstone Matchup

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Siena Heights University Saints men's soccer team saw action in their second Wolerinve-Hoosier Atheltic Conference matchup. SHU competed against Cornerstone University having 15 shots with seven on goal while netting one ball. Unfortunately, the Saints fell 1-2 against the Golden Eagles, becoming 0-2 in conference play.

Lewis Crombie scored a Siena goal unassisted earning three points during the match. Marcelo Rocha, Matheus Marrote, Nolan Chaput, and Gaizka Zandio each had two shots during the match. Jacob Wojciechowski was in the net for the Saints seeing 90:00 minutes of action and made four saves.

Defense took center stage in the first half as Siena held off Cornerstoneuntil the 26th minute when the Golden Eagles drew first blood. Siena was quick to respond scoring near the 32nd minute after making five substitutions Siena received a corner kick and saw a good look on goal that resulted in Crombie netting the first goal of the game for SHU. Cornerstone would break the tie early into the second half and send the game back into the battle of the defenses. However, when time ran out Siena was down one goal to two ending the game.

"I thought we deserved a better result than we got tonight. We outplayed them for long stretches and just continued to be snakebit. Need to find a way to get a result on Saturday and start moving forward."
