Siena Stumbles in High Scoring Game Against Shawnee State

Portsmouth, Ohio --The Siena Heights men's soccer team finished an eventful weekend of traveling at Shawnee State University. Where the Saints fought hard in a high-scoring game but ultimately fell to the Bears 2-7. Returning home with an overall record of 2-2.

TOP SAINTS

Debuting in his collegiate career freshman from Jerusalem, Israel, Liav Cohen scored once for Siena earning himself two points. Sophomore Carlos Musoles netted his first goal of the season. Both Wilhem Weissheimer and Jorge Ellis earned assists as well as a point a piece. As Gaizka Zandio put one shot on goal for the Saints during the game, while senior Jacob Wojciechowski saw 90 minutes of action, tallying two saves.

The Bears scored first putting two goals on the scoreboard. After six substitutions, SHU ran down the field and Musoles scored, assisted by Weissheimer to bring the score to 1-2. Shawnee State scored once late in the first half only, for Siena to answer with a goal in the 43rd minute by Cohen and Ellis, sending the game into halftime at 2-3. 

With tough defense, the Tigers would not let SHU score in the second, ending the game with a final score of 2-7.

Continuing to travel the Siena Heights men's soccer team prepares to face off against the Soring Arbor Cougars on Wednesday, September 21st, with a kickoff time set for 7:00 PM.
