RIVERVIEW, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team finished the road contest against Michigan-Dearborn with a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods. The Saints (3-3-1, 0-2-1 WHAC) outshot the Wolverines (2-7-1, 1-2-1 WHAC) 17-10, but couldn't push ahead with a second score and was forced to settle with a tie.

Marcelo Rocha scored the lone goal for the Saints in the 84th minute of the game. The score put the Saints ahead 1-0. Nolan Chaput led SHU with two shots on goal in the evening. Gustavo Barros, Alex Hanosh, and Jonas Walter each contributed a shot on goal in the contest. Matt LeBlanc made three saves between the pipes for Siena Heights. Daniel Vallejos made one save in his 27:59 of action.

The first half of the game was quiet as both teams only managed a single shot on goal during the opening 45 minutes of play. The Wolverines had an opportunity to take the lead on a penalty kick in the 14th minute, but LeBlanc made the save and preserved the scoreless tie. The first goal of the game came from Rocha in the 84th minute as the Saints pulled ahead 1-0 late in the game. Less than three minutes later, Michigan-Dearborn knotted things up with a goal from Robi Redzic, and the game was pushed to overtime.

Barros saw his shot in the first overtime bounce off the post and Walter's shot was saved by Wolverine goalie, Everest Brace and the teams prepared for a second overtime period. A red card for UM-Dearborn made the Wolverines short-handed for the majority of the second overtime period, but SHU couldn't take advantage of the extra player.
