Men's Soccer 2016 Season Wrap-Up

The Siena Heights men's soccer team finished their 2016 season with an overall record of 4-12-1 while going 1-10 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. SHU finished the season with 19 goals, finishing with an average of 1.12 goals per game.

Rahbar Khan was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Kahn led the team in goals (4), shots (30) and he was also tied for first on the team with eight points.

Sophomore defensemen Andres Mata earned the Coaches Award. Mata appeared in nine games for the Saints, finishing the season with six total shots.

Goalkeeper Leo Hisamatsu started 15 games for SHU, finishing with 1308:36 minutes in net. Hisamatsu also tallied 65 saves, 4 wins and a shutout. He averaged a 2.20 goals against average and a .670 save percentage.

Four athletes received WHAC academic honors this season. These athletes consisted of Alexandre Santos, Collin McLaughlin, Luis Miguel Anaya and Kahn. Santos was also named to Champions of Character Team as well. In order to be eligible for the WHAC academic award, a student must hold an accumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and be a junior or above in academic status.

For the second year in a row, Santos was honored as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Santos majors in chemical engineering while earning a minor in finance. Joining him as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete was Anaya. Anaya is majoring in biology. In order to be nominated for this award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
