Men's Soccer Struggles Against Marygrove

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Brent Rodden scored a pair of goals but it was not enough as the Seina Heights men's soccer team dropped a 5-3 decision to Marygrove, on Wednesday.

Marygrove started off the scoring early in the first minute with an unassisted goal by Andriy Pelekh. Mario Morana then finished a 35 yard free-kick in the eighth minute for the Mustangs (8-6-1, 5-2-1).

The Saints responded with a goal from Enoch Tsibu-Beckson who headed in a loose ball off of a corner. Rodden converted on a penalty kick in the 44th minute to even the score.

The draw was short lived. Oneil Robinson finished a breakaway for the Mustangs in the 45th minute, which gave Marygrove a 3-2 lead going into halftime.

In the 72nd minute, Robinson scored off of a Moussa Diallo pass to win it for the Mustangs. An insurance goal was tacked on by Morana, with an assist from Robinson, to end the scoring for Marygrove.

Rodden converted on another penalty kick in the 86th minute to end the scoring for the match.

Leo Hisamatsu was the deciding goalkeeper for the Saints (6-6-2, 1-5-2), making four saves and allowing five goals. He was relieved by Morgen Gardocki in the 75th minute, who made one save in net. Austin Valentine made one stop for the Mustangs.

Siena Heights was outshot by Marygrove, 13-9, who also held a 7-4 corner-kick advantage.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Lourdes (Ohio). Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
