Men's Soccer Suffers Loss to Michigan-Dearborn

BRIGHTON, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team dropped a 5-3 decision to Michigan-Dearborn in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Tuesday.

Brent Rodden scored two goals for the Saints (6-4-2, 1-3-2) while Rahbar Khan added one.

Richard Hodnicki led UMD (4-7-1, 2-4-1) with two goals and one assist.

Hodnicki tallied in the 13th and Matt McCourt scored in the 27th, giving host Dearborn a 2-0 lead. McCourt assisted on Hodnicki's goal.

The Saints answered with a pair of goals -- Khan's in the 32nd and a Rodden score in the 56th -- to tie the contest at 2-all before Michigan-Dearborn connected for three straight netters.

Evan Behrendt put UMD in the lead in the 67th, getting an assist from Hodnicki. Then, Hodnicki scored in the 73rd and Jad Hmadeh tallied in the 75th to push the Wolverines' lead to 5-2.

Rodden scored the game's final goal in the 88th on a penalty kick.

Siena Heights goalkeeper Leo Hisamatsu had six saves while UMD keeper Erick Beas stopped six shots as well.

SHU outshot UMD, 17-15, and had a 5-1 corner-kick advantage.

The Saints will play next on Friday when second-ranked Davenport visits for an 8 p.m. start.
