Men's Lax Suffers Loss in Opener at Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's lacrosse team opened its season with an 11-6 loss to NCAA Division III Kalamazoo on Tuesday.

Eric Csizmadia was the Saints' leading scorer with two goals and one assist. Brandon Hammer added two goals while Nathan Staley and Joey Keck contributed single goals.

Ethan Wissink had nine groundballs and three caused turnovers. Fernando Robison was 11 of 18 in the faceoff circle with eight groundballs.

SHU goalie Jakob Moske totaled 14 saves.

Host Kalamazoo scored the game's first eight goals before Keck got SHU on the board late in the second quarter. Keck's goal began a 5-1 stretch for the Saints as they pulled within 8-4 and 9-5. That was the slimmest the margin became after the early deficit.

Siena Heights (0-1) will return to action on Saturday with a visit to William Penn.
