Men’s Lacrosse Pulls Away from Michigan-Dearborn in Senior-Day Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's lacrosse team pulled away from Michigan-Dearborn with a 19-10 win inside O'Laughlin Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Saints (8-5. 7-2 WHAC) outscored the Wolverines 8-1 in the fourth quarter to pull away in a close game through the first three-quarters of play.

Jake Gallaher led the way for SHU with seven points (5 goals, 2 assists) while also scooping up five ground balls. Eric Csizmadia (5 goals, 1 assist) scored six points with two ground balls for the afternoon. Devin Plemmons (3 goals, 3 assists) scored six points with a hat-trick in both goals and assists. Fernando Robison and Matthew Quillen scored two goals in the winning effort. Robison also led the Saints with a career-high 28 ground balls in the game. Vinnie Jean (W, 8-5) made 16 saves in net for the Saints to earn his eighth win of the year.

Gallaher put Siena on the board first with a goal in the opening two minutes of play. UM-Dearborn tied things up at 4:30 after a large chunk of time passed with no scoring in the first quarter. Gallaher shook the net a second time off a pass from Plemmons to put SHU up 2-1 with 4:01 left in the first. The Wolverines tied it a second time with a score at 1:35, but Plemmons recorded a goal off an assist from Connor Roeske with just over one minute left to take the 3-2 edge into the second quarter.

Csizmadia netted a pair of goals to start the second, while Logan Hudnut and Plemmons each scored to push the Saint advantage to 7-4 with just under three minutes to play in the half. The score would settle at 7-5 before the teams entered the locker room at the half.

Robison tallied a goal, followed by Csizmadia completing his hat trick to pull ahead 9-6 with 10:26 left in the third stanza. Three-straight scores from UM-Dearborn tied the game for the third time, with 4:09 remaining on the clock. Csizmadia scored again to recapture the lead, 10-9. Gallaher added an insurance goal in the final 90 seconds as SHU held an 11-9 lead heading into the last period of play.

Robison added his second goal before Quillen (2 scores), Csizmadia, Plemmons, Gallaher, and Potter each added goals in a 9-0 run that started back at the end of the third quarter to take a commanding 18-9 lead with just 2:44 left to play. A final goal from the Wolverines at 2:07 gave them ten scores, but Gallaher added another to settle the final score at 19-10.

The SHU Men's lacrosse is in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament. The Saints will await the league office to announce the seedings and matchups tonight.
