Saints Four-Game Winning Streak Snapped at #2 Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind.-- The Siena Heights men's lacrosse team had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 10-8 loss on the road against second-ranked Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Saints (5-4, 4-1 WHAC) held a 6-4 advantage at halftime but could not hold off the Warriors to secure the win.

Jake Gallaher led SHU with three goals and one assist in the game. Gallaher also contributed on the defensive side of the ball with eight ground balls. Devin Plemmons, Eric Csizmadia, Matthew Quillen, Garnet Potter, and Logan Hudnut scored for Siena Heights. Potter added two assists while Ryan Moore, Plemmons, Csizmadia, and Hudnut registered one. Fernando Robison led with a game-high 11 ground balls. Vinnie Jeans (L, 5-4) made 10 saves in the losing effort.

Plemmons, Gallaher, and Potter scored in the first 10 minutes of play to give the Saints a 3-0 lead. Indiana Tech got on the board with a score at the 3:10 mark of the opening quarter to cut the SHU lead to 3-1. Quillen scored off an assist from Csizmadia in the closing minutes of the quarter to give Siena a 4-1 lead heading into the second.

Hudnut and Gallaher netted goals in the opening five minutes of the second to extend the advantage to 6-1. The Warriors rallied with three-straight scores to pull within two of SHU as the teams entered the locker room at the half.

The home team opened the scoring in the second half with a goal at 9:26 to bring the score to 6-5 in favor of the Saints. Csizmadia scored to bring the lead back to two goals with just under seven minutes left on the clock. Indiana Tech scored four-straight goals to end the quarter with its first lead of the game, 9-7.

Gallaher completed his hat trick with a goal at 7:22 in the fourth to bring the Saints within a goal of tying things up, but the Warriors kept Siena scoreless for the remainder of regulation.

Siena Heights returns home to host Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday, April 13, in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
