Three Siena Heights men's lacrosse team members were honored as MCLA All-Americans for their performances in the 2016 season, as announced by the league recently. Joshua Abruzzo was named All-American First Team while Danny Orr was named All-MCLA Third Team and Mark Ward was All-MCLA Honorable Mention.
Senior defenseman Joshua Abruzzo was a vital role in the Saints defensive success. He led the team with 24 caused turnovers and tallied 34 groundballs, also adding two assists.
Abruzzo was previously named to the All-CCLA First Team in 2016 and was an MCLA All-American in the 2015 season.
Sophomore midfielder Danny Orr finished the season with 33 goals and 18 assists to earn a team-leading 51 points.
Orr was previously honored to the All-CCLA First Team in 2016.
Senior faceoff specialist Mark Ward led the Saints in face-off wins and groundballs. Ward picked up 57 groundballs and won 141-of-205 faceoffs for a .689 winning percentage.
The Saints lost in the first round of the MCLA Tournament after receiving an at-large bid as the No. 12 seed. SHU lost 7-6 against Kennesaw State.
In the final game of the 2016 season, the Saints defeated Minnesota-Duluth 16-9 in an MCLA Tournament consolation contest.
