#3 Men's Lax Almost Upsets #1 Davenport in WHAC Championship

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The third-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team fell 11-7 to top-ranked Davenport in the WHAC Championship Game on Wednesday.

The Saints (10-4) had a slow start, going down 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, then 9-1 with 4:17 remaining in the second quarter.

Siena went on a four-goal unanswered streak before the first half would expire with goals coming from Danny Orr and Spencer Macek.

Tom Kreitzer and Shane Lewandowski kept the streak going throughout the third quarter to get the Saints within tow, 9-7.

Davenport again widened the gap with two goals in the fourth to shut the Saints down 11-7.

For Siena, Macek and Orr each finished with a pair of goals while Macek also earned two assists. Nicholas Lyons added two assists along with a goal. Lewandowski and Kreitzer each picked up a goal. Chris Acton tallied one assist.

Leading the Panthers (16-1), Bryan Laroque finished six shots while Jarred Riley added two goals of his own.

Tyler Hooper stopped eleven shots for the Saints while winning goaltender Logan Poe made 14 saves. For SHU, Mark Ward went 13-of-19 in faceoffs.

The Saints will continue postseason play on Saturday when they host Lawrence Tech for a 7 p.m. CCLA first round tournament game.
