Dominant Fourth Quarter by Orr Helps Men's Lax to Success

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Sophomore Danny Orr scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the fourth quarter to help lift the Siena Heights men's lacrosse team to an 8-5 victory in the conference-opener against Aquinas, on Tuesday.

Heading into halftime, the SHU Saints lead the AQ Saints 3-1.

Aquinas outscored SHU in the third quarter 4-2, to tie the game up 5-5 with one quarter remaining in the game.

Only 54 seconds into the fourth quarter, Orr slotted an unassisted shot into the corner past AQ goaltender Jacob Mackrider to make it 6-5, Siena Heights' lead. Chris Acton added an insurance goal, assisted by Orr, with less than six minutes remaining. To seal Aqinas' fate, Orr went coast-to-coast to score the final goal of the game.

Aquinas outshot Siena in the fourth quarter 8-6, but the SHU defense kept the Aquinas Saints scoreless.

Orr lead the Saints with three goals and one assist. Five Saints added on solo goals: Spencer Macek, Nate Woods, Tom Kreitzer, Nicholas Lyons and Acton. Shane Lewandowski tacked on two assists for Siena.

For Aquinas (3-4, 1-1), Nate Cantin and Will Comai each tallied two goals while Corby Haley finished one shot. Sam Klinsky earned an assist.

Tyler Hooper earned the win, stopping seven shots between the pipes for Siena Heights (6-3, 1-0). Mark Ward won 5-of-7 faceoffs and picked up four groundballs while Travis Byrd won 4-of-9.

Mackrider made six saves in goal for Aquinas. Josh Dillon won 5-of-11 faceoffs while Comai picked up four groundballs.

The SHU Saints will host Lourdes (Ohio) on Friday for a 7 p.m. conference contest.
