#3 Men's Lax Outlasts Robert Morris (Ill.)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The third-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team outlasted a Robert Morris (Ill.) third quarter-surge and earned a 12-8 non-conference victory on Sunday.

The Saints went on a four goal run in the first quarter, Danny Orr finishing two shots. RMU added two goals before SHU's Nate Woods tacked on the last goal of the 5-2 first quarter.

Siena kept the momentum, putting-away three opportunities in the second quarter.

Robert Morris came out of halftime heated, especially after Nicholas Lyons, assisted by Spencer Macek, scored only 16 seconds into the third quarter. The Eagles went on to score five goals in the third quarter, while Lyons (Orr assist) and Macek, who finished a quick pass from Chris Acton, each added another goal for SHU.

The fourth period was a battle, the Eagles had many chances but were held to one goal by Tyler Hooper and the Saints' defense. Acton added a solo goal for Siena (3-3) in the fourth quarter.

Macek was the leading scorer for the Saints, finishing with three goals and earned an assist. Orr, Woods and Lyons each finished with two goals a piece, Orr earning three assists. Adam Keay and Acton earned a goal and assist apiece. John Holowaty and Michael Birt III finished with a goal and assist, respectively.

Leading the Eagles (0-4) was Zach Barth with three goals and one assist. Bryce Foulk added two goals while Richard Liu, Vince Sirico and Jack Emery each tacked-on a solo goal.

The Saints won 18-of-24 faceoffs, leading them was Mark Ward with 9-of-10 and five groundballs. Travis Byrd went 8-of-12. Birt finished with the team high seven groundballs.

Hooper made six saves between the pipes for the Saints, four coming in the fourth quarter. For the Eagles, Chance Larson stopped 14 shots.

Siena Heights will travel to Grand Valley State, on Sunday, for a 2 p.m. game.
