#3 Men's Lacrosse Almost Upsets #1 Davenport

BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. -- The third-ranked Siena Heights men's lacrosse team almost pulled off an upset of first-ranked Davenport in a non-conference game on Sunday. The Saints fell 10-9 after leading for the majority of the game.

At the end of the third quarter, the Saints were up 6-5 with goals by Danny Orr, Chris Acton, Nate Woods and three goals by Shane Lewandowski.

Beginning the fourth quarter, Woods finished a pass from Danny Orr to go up 7-5. Two goals by Davenport tied up the game with 11:18 remaining in regulation. The Panthers finished three unanswered goals to go up 10-7 against SHU with 4:04 left in the game.

Tom Kreitzer added a goal followed by another Lewandowski goal with 2:48 remaining to put the Saints within one. Orr took a shot with 00:02 remaining on the clock but it went wide, ending the Saints rally.

Lewandowski led the Siena Heights with four goals while Woods added on two of his own. Adding on single goals were Kreitzer, Acton and Orr. Schenck and Kreitzer each earned an assist while Orr tallied two assists of his own.

Mark Ward finished with six ground balls and won nine of 11 faceoffs. The Saints won 14 of 21 faceoffs as a team.

Saints' goaltender Tyler Hooper made 12 saves.

Davenport's Paul Schalau finished with four goals while six players scored one goal each. The Panther's goaltender Logan Poe stopped eight shots in net.

Siena Heights will be back in action on Saturday. The Saints play Missouri Baptist in Knoxville, Tenn. with a 5 p.m. start.
