Men's Golf Finishes The Two-Day WHAC Preview Tournament

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's golf team finished tied for eighth in the stroke-play portion of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Preview tournament on Monday morning. The Saints were then seeded 8th in the match-play portion that was based on the finishes from stroke play that morning. The 8th-seeded Saints defeated Madonna 3-2 to end day one. Day two concluded with a 3-2 loss in match play against seventh-seeded Lourdes. 

SHU shot a 317 as a team to tie Cornerstone for eighth in the standings. Colin Duffy led the way for Siena Heights with a five-over-par score of 77 that tied for 13th individually. Garrett Ramos recorded a 79 to tie in 24th. Benjamin Ellis registered a +8, 80 to tie in 30th and Davis Longyear finished tied for 37th with an 81. Trent Moody completed stroke play with an 84.

Lawrence Tech had a team score of 296 to finish atop the team standings in stroke play. UNOH was second with a 303 followed by Aquinas with a 310. Michigan-Dearborn fell to fourth with a 311 with Madonna (312) and Indiana Tech (313) just behind in fifth and sixth. Lourdes tallied a 315 for seventh. Rochester was six strokes behind SHU and Cornerstone with a 323. Concordia (Mich.) and Cleary rounded out the scores with 329 and 330.

Up Next

The team gets over a week off before competing at the Lourds Fall Invitational at the Sylvania Country Club on Monday, October 11. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
