Men's Golf Ends Fall Season with 11th Place Finish at the Motor City Invitational

DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's golf team wraps-up its fall season with an 11th-place finish at the Motor City Invitational, on Sunday and Saturday.

After a 12th-place ranking in the first round, SHU improved to 11th-place after a 17 stroke improvement as a team in the second round. Overall, the Saints shot 645 (331-314) in the two-round tournament, beating 12th place contender Lourdes (Ohio) by two strokes. Grand Valley State won with a team score of 597 (294-303).

SHU's Wyatt Spalding improved his score by four stokes to make his tournament total 156 (80-76) to tie for 26th place. First place finishers were Mason Mott from Saginaw Valley State and Joel Pietila, finishing the tournament with a two over par 146.

Also improving was Nick Sanscrainte who shot seven strokes better for an overall score of 163 (85-78) for the Saints.

Rounding out the SHU scoring was Jimmy Monteith and Hunter Walsh who shot a 167 (85-82) and 168 (81-87), respectively.

The Motor City Invitational was the last event of the Saints' fall season. Siena Heights will be back in action in the spring of 2017.
