Men's Bowling Opens AHIBC Action with a 9th and 12th Place Finish

AHIBC #1 – Super Bowl
The Saints were in Canton, Mich. on Saturday competing in the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (AHIBC) Jamboree #1 at Super Bowl. A total of 27 Varsity, and 16 Junior Varsity teams bowled five Team games and 12 Baker games (Baker games are composed of 5 bowlers that bowl 2 frames each to make up a 10 frame game. Bowler #1 bowls frames 1 and 6, Bowler #2 bowls frames 2 and 7, etc.) on a 44-foot oil pattern.

Our Saints varsity team had a total pin fall amount of 7, 038 to finish ninth. Bowling Green State University won the event with a total of 7,594. On the JV side, our Saints competed with only four bowlers and finished 16th with a total of 4,627. The Wright State – Gold won the JV division with a total of 7,353.

For the Saints varsity, Josh Criscenti averaged 201.00 for 5 games to finish with a 201 average that was good enough for 37th place in the field of 271 bowlers. Ryan Freeman averaged 237.25 in four games to help the Saints with their strong finish. Mitchell Rusinek averaged 181.20, Steven Cadwell averaged 191.75 over four games, Shane Rusinek bowling in four games, averaged 175.50, and Keith Reid averaged 184.00 over three games.

Pacing the Saints in JV division, Travis Marcus bowled an average of 194.60 over the five games to take 59th place. Also bowling for the JV team, Patrick Mulqueen averaged 161.80, Ryan Zaharia 151.00 average, and Aaron Joseph 138.80 average.

AHIBC #2 – Wayne Bowl
SHU Saints Men's Bowling was in Canton, Mich. again on Sunday competing in the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (AHIBC) Jamboree #2 at Wayne Bowl. A total of 26 Varsity, and 17 Junior Varsity teams bowled four Team games and 16 Baker games on a 39-foot oil pattern.

Siena Heights recorded a 12th place finish in the Varsity division with a 6,330 score. Our Saints JV team, with only four bowlers, shot 4,310 to finish 16th in their division. Winning the Varsity division were the Purdue Boilermakers who shot 7,005, and the Indiana Tech Warriors won the JV division by bowling 6,981.

The Saints Varsity team had two bowlers crack the top 50: Steven Cadwell was the Saints' high finisher of the tournament. His 204.50 average for four games placed him in eighth place, while Keith Reid was in 45th place by averaging 187.50. Other bowlers on Varsity: Josh Criscenti 180.25 average, Shane Rusinek 164.75 average, and Ryan Freeman averaged 156.25.

Our men's Junior Varsity team was led by Mitchell Rusinek. He averaged 192.75 and placed 28th in the field of 269 bowlers. Ryan Zaharia 153.50 average, Patrick Mulqueen 138.50, and Aaron Joseph averaged 137.25 to round out the scoring.

The men's team competes this Saturday, November 4, at Lenawee Recreation Center in the Adrian College Open. Starting time is 10 a.m.
