Men’s Bowling Invited to New Jersey for ITC Sectionals

The Siena Heights men's bowling team has been invited to 30 Strikes in Stratford, N.J., March 11-13 to compete in the 2016 Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier, as announced by the United States Bowling Congress Tuesday afternoon.

The ITC is divided into four sectionals, with the top-80 teams according to collegebowling.com's online ranking system being evenly distributed to the four sectional areas. The Saints finished the season ranked 49th in the nation out of 152 programs. Other sectional locations include Smyrna, Tenn., Las Vegas, Nev., and Addison, Ill.

At each sectional, the top four teams based on total pin-fall after 64 baker games qualify for nationals April 20-23 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan., for their chance to compete for the Kerm Helmer Cup, college bowling's national championship trophy. This is the Saints third sectional appearance in the programs brief six year history.

In 2013, the Saints finished 16th out of 20 in their first sectionals appearance in school history at Smyrna Bowl in Smyrna, Tenn.

In their second sectionals appearance the following season, the Saints improved on their 2013 campaign by finishing 12th out of 20 at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill.

Notable teams joining SHU in Stratford are No. 2 ranked Webber International (Fla.), No. 8 ranked McKendree (Ill.), No.10 ranked Urbana (Ohio), fellow Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference schools Concordia and Northwestern Ohio, and cross-town rival Adrian.
