Cadwell Leads Men's Bowling in 48th of 78 Place

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's bowling team placed 48th out of 78 teams at the 47th annual Hoosier Classic, widely regarded as the most prestigious bowling tournament of the regular-season, which took place at Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday and Sunday.

The Saints finished with an 8,092 total pin-fall over the course of nine team-games, compiling an individual game average of 178.82. The eight team match-play cut was 9,049, which the Saints missed by 957 pins.

The inability to put together individual high games ultimately doomed SHU, as the Saints had no team games over 1,000 when the average team game to make cut stood at 1,005.

Steven Cadwell was the top-finisher for Siena, placing 80th individually with a nine game total of 1,712 (190.22 average).

Also for the Saints, Kenneth DeGraaf compiled a six game total of 1,152 (192.0 average), which included games of 235 and 248.

Andrew Anderson of Webber International (Fla.) placed first individually, compiling a nine game total of 2,059 (228.78).

Lindenwood (Mo.) won the tournament, defeating Webber International in the finals 4-2 in a best of seven series.

The Hoosier Classic marked the end of the regular season for collegiate bowling, as this Wednesday the United States Bowling Congress will announce the top-80 men's bowling programs that have qualified for USBC sectional play, where teams will have a chance to advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships April 20-23 in Wichita, Kan.

In the latest rankings, the Saints were ranked 51st in the nation out of 163 programs.

The Saints will begin their post-season schedule at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference championships this Saturday at Westland Bowl in Westland, Mich.
