Shaffran, Dear, & DeGraaf Recieve Individual WHAC Honors

Freshman William Shaffran along with seniors Aaron Dear and Kenneth DeGraaf received special recognition as Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference honorees for their achievements during the 2015-16 season.

Shaffran was awarded the WHAC Newcomer of the Year, handed out annually to the best freshman in the conference. Through 36 games Shaffran has compiled a 201.86 average, including a 214.15 average over the course of 13 games in WHAC conference play.

Shaffran was also one of five bowlers to be named to the WHAC All-Conference team, awarded annually to the top five players in conference play. Shaffran placed in the top-five in all three of the final WHAC jamborees, placing third out of 81, fourth out of 75, and fifth out of 74. His achievements of WHAC Newcomer of the Year and All-Conference team are the first for a male bowler in the bowling program's six year history.

In addition to Shaffran's achievements, Dear was presented with the WHAC Champions of Character award, handed out annually to the bowler on each schools roster that best exemplifies the core values of the WHAC conference through positive sportsmanship. This was the third year in a row Dear has represented Siena Heights as the WHAC Champions of Character.

On top of being named the WHAC Champions of Character, Dear was also named to the WHAC All-Academic team, handed out annually to student-athletes that show excellence in the classroom by maintaining higher than a 3.25 GPA. DeGraaf also joined Dear in this accomplishment. This is the second year in a row the two seniors have been named to the list.
