Shaffran Leads Men’s Bowling to Third at WHAC #3

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Siena Heights men's bowling team placed third in an eight team field at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference's third jamboree of the season at Thunderbowl #1 in Ft. Wayne, Ind. The third place finish marked the best WHAC finish in men's bowling history.

After a five-game total of 1,148 to start the tournament, the Saints were in first place after the first team game. Heading into bakers, the Saints settled into fourth place and compiled four-game baker sets of 804, 793, 858, and 732 to leap over Davenport for a third place finish. Concordia won the jamboree with a 7,875 total, 265-pins over second place Northwestern Ohio and 510-pins over the Saints.

Freshman Will Shaffran was the top-finisher for SHU in the 75-bowler field, placing fourth overall with a 946 (236.5 average) four-game series, which included games of 278 and 244. The strong performance by Shaffran marked back-to-back top-five finishes, both of which took place in WHAC competition.

Also, for the Saints, freshman Joshua Criscenti placed 15th with an 867 (216.75 average) four-game series and senior Kenneth DeGraaf placed 22nd with an 833 (208.25). Concordia's Robert Wood placed first overall with a 1065 (266.25).

The Saints will be off until the fourth and final WHAC Jamboree, set to take place in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Jan. 9. As it currently stands, the Saints find themselves in a fourth-place tie with Davenport in the conference standings.
