Men's Bowling 10th, Sixth at First Two AHIBC Events

CANTON, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's bowling team placed 10th and sixth, respecitvely, at the first two American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference tournaments of the season at Super Bowl on Saturday and Sunday.

At the first AHIBC tournament, the Saints stayed consistent throughout the day on their way to a 10th-place finish in the 21-team field, with each team game score in the 900's and each four-game baker set score in the 700s. The Saints ended with a total pin-fall of 7,010.

Steven Cadwell led the way for the guys at AHIBC I, compiling a five game set of 991 (198.20 average) en route to a 33rd-place finish in the 202-bowler field. Joshua Criscenti placed 35th with a 989 (197.80 average) and Kenneth DeGraaf placed 43rd with a 972 (194.40). William Shaffran rounded out the top-50 with a 956 (191.20).

Notre Dame (Ohio) won AHIBC I with a 7,780 total pin-fall while Marian's (Ind.) Ryan Ventillo took top individual honors with a 1161 (232.2) five-game set.

In the second AHIBC tournament in as many days, the Saints had more of a roller coaster day. Team games ranged from the 800s to the 1,000s while four-game baker sets were as low as the 600s and as high as the 800s. Overall, the Saints landed a total pin-fall of 6,890 to finish sixth out of 19 teams.

Cadwell was the top Saint once again, finishing 12th in the 186-bowler field with an 822 (205.50) four-game set. DeGraaf also finished in the Top 50 for a second straight day, finishing 17th with an 813 (203.25).

Fellow WHAC school Concordia took first at AHIBC II with a team score of 3,887 while Muskingum's (Ohio) Jared Shaner placed first individually with a 930 (232.50) four-game set.

The Saints will be back in action Nov. 14 when they host the second WHAC Jamboree of the season at Lenawee Recreation Center in Adrian.
