Craig Tanis joins the Siena Heights men's basketball staff as an Assistant Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Tanis is a SHU alum, graduating in 1992. Tanis was a member of the men's basketball team for three seasons, 1988-91. 

In uniform, Tanis helped propel the Saints to their first NAIA District #23 championship in the spring of 1989 and the March Madness continued when Coach Fred Smith’s club made its first-ever appearance at the NAIA Division I National Tournament. The ’89 Saints set a school record with 31 wins on the season.

In the SHU record books, Tanis is now the career overall sixth leading scorer (1,468), third in three-pointers (246) and 10th in assists (333). In 2003, Tanis was elected into the Siena Heights Hall of Fame.

As a coach, Tanis has over 10 years of experience. Most recent, he was the Head Coach for Britton-Deerfield's varsity women's basketball team, 2011-15.

Tanis is also the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the men's and women's volleyball teams.
