Men's Basketball Nearly Pulls Out Upset vs Madonna

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell to Madonna 66-64 in WHAC action Saturday evening. Delano Williams led SHU in scoring with 16 points and three rebounds.

Off the bench, Jonny Bowers was the leading scorer with eight points and seven rebounds.

The game was played very even all game long. Madonna took the lead with 37.5 seconds remaining in the game after a made layup. Both teams had one possession in that stretch and neither scored. After that posession, Madonna got the ball back and SHU fouled with 12 seconds left as Madonna went to the free throw line for a one and one opportunity, and the Crusaders missed the front end which gave the Saints an opportunity to tie or win the game. On the ensuing possession, Delano Williams made an attempt at the game-winning three and the shot was no good, the ball was then rebounded by Colin Nutter, but the layup was no good and the Saints fell to Madonna.

From the field SHU shot 36.1%, 11.8% from behind the three point line, won the battle on the glass, outrebounding Madonna 51-33.

SHU will play next Wednesday, January 31st, at Indiana Tech.
