Saints Fall Short Against Rochester

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Siena Heights Men's basketball team took on Rochester On January 3rd and fell 66-63. Delano Williams led the game for the Saints with 26 points and four rebounds. Jonas Tester and Shawn Brown also scored in double figures, with Tester scoring 15 points and Brown scoring 12. 

In the first half, the Saints had a dominant performance. In a back-and-forth contest in the first 11 minutes, the Saints were down 12-11 with 9:01 left to go in the half. That was until the Saints went on a run of 11-2 to go up 22-14. From that point on to the end of the half, the Saints continued their domination, as they had the lead at halftime, up 27-18. 

In the second half, the Saints ended up taking the largest lead of the game at 34-24, when Delano Williams hit a three-pointer to put the Saints up 10 in the first four minutes of the second half. After the second media timeout, Rochester came out rolling as they pulled within three at 40-37 with a three-point basket from Anthony Cukaj. Rochester continued their hot play as they eventually took the lead at 47-46 after Brett White made a three-point jump shot to put Rochester up by one. From that point on the Saints kept it close but could not regain the lead as they fell to Rochester 66-63. 

From the field, the Saints shot 46.4% from the floor and 33.3% from behind the three-point line. On the glass, the Saints outrebounded Rochester 40-31 and turned the ball over 17 times. 

 

Next up, The Saints will come back home as they will host Cornerstone at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January, 6th.
