Hallett Matches Single-Game Record For 3s In Men's Hoops Win Over IU Southeast

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Freshman T.J Hallett buried eight 3-pointers, equaling a Siena Heights single-game record, as the Saints men's basketball team earned a 71-63 win over Indiana Southeast in non-conference action on Saturday.

Hallett came off the bench and scored 24 points, a career and season-high, by connecting on 8 of 11 from 3-point range. He is the first Saint in more than 25 years to make eight 3s. The other three players to share the record are Brent Tucker (Jan. 12, 1994, vs. Spring Arbor), Ryan Sanford (Jan. 4, 1995, vs. Rockhurst) and Byron Johnson (Mar. 14, 1997, vs. Ozarks).

Curtis Bell III and Colin Nutter had double-doubles for SHU. Bell totaled 15 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Nutter added 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Davin Walker finished with 10 points, including the go-ahead layup to give the Saints a 51-49 edge with 7:06 left. Hallett added a 3 on SHU's next possession, with an assist from Walker.

Siena Heights led much of the contest. Hallett had given the Saints their largest lead, 47-36 with 13:39 to go, before the host Grenadiers (7-7) used a 13-2 run to forge the 49-all tie.

Hallett's record-tying eighth trey gave the Saints a 67-58 lead with 2:32 remaining.

Anthony Wales Jr. was IU Southeast's leading scorer with 19 points. Glenn Hill and Christian Stewart scored 12 points apiece.

Siena Heights (3-9) will return to action Monday morning with an 11 a.m. game against East-West University in the SHU Fieldhouse.
