Men's Basketball Falls in Tough Battle With Rochester

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights Men's Basketball team lost a hard fought battle with Rochester University by a score of 68-60 at the SHU Fieldhouse on Saturday.

After back and forth action saw the game tied at 10 with 14 minutes left in the first half, the Saints went on a 12-3 run over the next six minutes.  The Warriors responded with a 9-2 run to pull back to within two points, when Siena Heights finished off the half on a 7-3 run to sit with a 31-25 halftime lead.

The Saints saw Rochester hit 50% from the floor in the second half, including seven three point baskets at a 50% shooting percentage as well.  Six second half turnovers by the Saints aided in the Warriors comeback.  Rochester took a brief lead four minutes into the second half at 36-35 before SHU had another run of 12-7 to hold the lead at 47-43 with eight and a half minutes left.  Rochester made a 15-6 run over the next four minutes to build their own five point lead.  The Saints battled back but would pull no closer than three points the rest of the way.

Curtis Bell III led all scorers on the night with 24 points.  He added a game high 10 rebounds as well which was also the most for either team.  Bell and T.J Hallett each had three assists with Bell leading the team with two steals as well.  Colin Nutter added 13 points for the Saints.

With the loss, the Saints move to 2-7 on the season and 1-5 in the WHAC.  They will return to action on Wednesday night with a 7:30 pm tip off with Holy Cross.
