Bell's late layup lifts Saints to first win Saturday at UNOH

Curtis Bell III made a layup with 2 seconds left in the game and added a free throw to give the Siena Heights Men's Basketball team its first win of the season Saturday at Northwestern Ohio.

The win moves the Saints to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the WHAC.

The Saints were up by 6 with 1:47 left in the game before a 7-0 run gave UNOH the lead with 7 seconds left. Enter Bell's layup and free throw and SHU escaped with its first win of the season. 

"I'm very proud of this group for how they have continued to believe in each other and both what we're doing and how we are doing it every day as a culture," said Head Coach Joe Pechota. "We played with heart and toughness tonight and earned a very hard-fought win."

Davin Walker was 5 of 8 behind the 3-point line and led the Saints with 23 points. Curtis Bell III had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double, and Louis Young added 12 points.

The Saints trailed 36-29 at the half, but kept the game close before grabbing a 58-56 lead with 3:15 remaining.

For the game, the Saints shot 33 percent from behind the 3-point line and shot 43 percent from the field. They scored 13 points off of turnovers.

UP NEXT – The Saints return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 22 with a cross town rivalry game at Adrian College.  The Saints return home on Saturday when they play Miami Middleton as a part of their annual Thanksgiving Tournament.
