The Saints Fall Against the Warriors in Conference Game 78-62

Adrain, Mich – SHU Men's Basketball hosts Rochester University at home in the Fieldhouse in a Saturday afternoon game. The final score was warriors 78 Saints 62, with a total of 78 points from the paint and three lead changes.

Jayden Sims led SHU putting up 17 points and shooting 5-10 from the field. Sims also picked up three rebounds, two blocks, and shot 4-4 with free throws. Helping the Saints with 13 points was Kevin Rice who also collected seven rebounds and one block. Both Curtis Bell III Kiewuan Graham helped on defense with a total of 12 rebounds between the two. Siena Heights put up 15 points in second-chance shots and 20 points from the paint as a team.

The blue and yellow started off the game with a three-point shot from Curtis Bell III, which led into a nice run of seven points. To go up 7-0 early in the half; the lead continued to grow to nine until the fourteen-minute mark when the Warriors slowly started to make a comeback. While trading baskets, the Saints fought to maintain the lead until it was taken by Rochester later in the half with a tip-in from Andrew Kline. Kiewuan Graham answered back with tip-in of his own, kicking of a tug-o-war for the lead, that consisted of trading baskets between teams. A Jumper from Max Moratinos brought the score within four to end the half 37-33

Both teams started the second half ready to go, putting up ten points combined within the first minute and a half. Still fighting for the lead and momentum SHU continued to remain close to the Warriors trailing only a procession or two for the majority of the first ten minutes. That is until a layup from Rochester kicked off a seven-point run to create some separation in the score, giving the visiting team a lead of 12. Blake Goodman put up three trying to help out his fellow Saints only to have the Warriors return with a five-point run, furthering the score gap. Leading to a 16-point deficit and a final score of 78-62.
