Shorthanded Saints Fall at Home to Huntington

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell at home to Huntington on Saturday afternoon. The Saints (2-8) were shorthanded as three of the team's leading scorers were out for the game.

Davin Walker was the leading scorer for Siena Heights with 14 points. Walker added four rebounds, two steals, and an assist to his stat line. Trevon Montgomery tallied nine points off the bench in the losing effort. He also recorded five rebounds along with two steals and two assists in the game. Elijah Sterling had eight points, two rebounds, and two blocks for the afternoon.

Sterling hit a jumper, and Luis Young made a three to give the Saints a 5-1 lead in the game's opening two minutes. A 5-0 run by the Foresters flipped the advantage to the visitors before Max Moratinos hit a layup to change the lead again, 7-6, in favor of SHU. With the score sitting at 12-9, Huntington tallied six-straight points to pull ahead further, 18-9. Walker made a layup that sparked an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to 20-17 with 9:09 left in the first half. A layup by the Foresters started a 7-0 run before an 8-0 run at the end of the half gave the visitors a double-digit lead, 39-26. Walker made a layup in the final 11 seconds of the first to send the teams into the locker room with a 39-28 score in favor of the Foresters.

Elijah Kimmons hits a layup at the 18:05 mark the trims the Huntington lead to single-digits, 41-32. A three-point jumper from Jayden Sims moved the Saints closer, 42-35, with 17:35 left in the game. However, a scoring drought for Siena Heights that spanned 3:43 saw 16-straight points for the visitor as the scoring margin increased to 58-35, and the Saints were unable to dig out before the end of regulation.
