Saints Fall 91-77 in First of Two Games Against Montana-State Northern

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team suffered a 91-77 defeat to Montana State-Northern at home on Saturday night. The Saints (1-2) gave up 12 three-point jumpers to the Lights in the loss.

Kevin Rice scored a career-high 32 points on 11-13 shooting in the losing effort. Rice was 1-1 from three and 9-11 from the charity stripe while also leading the Saints with eight rebounds. Curtis Bell III scored 14 points while also hauling in six rebounds and a steal. Davin Walker tallied eight points off the bench while dishing an assist and registering two steals.

The Saints shot well as a team with 51.9% from the floor and 46.2% from beyond the arc. The difference in the game was the 12 three-point jumpers made by the Lights in the game. Siena battled back from a nine-point deficit in the first half to tie things up at 26 points with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. A free throw by Rice put the Saints up 27-26, but back-to-back three-point jumpers gave MSUN a 32-29 advantage. That lead would eventually grow to seven, 39-32, at the half.

A 7-0 run by the visitors to start the second half pushed the lead to 14 points (46-32), and from there, the shots from distance continued to fall for the Lights. Montana State-Northern was 8-16 from long range in the second half as they pulled away from SHU for the remainder of regulation.
