Saints End Season with Home Loss against Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team finished their regular season with a loss (84-67) to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opponent Indiana Tech on Tuesday night. Aidan Wright (So. | Ypsilanti, Mich.) led the Saints with a team-high of 17 points. He also tallied one rebound and one steal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Warriors jumped out to an 8-2 run at the 18:01 mark as Josh Kline, Max Perez, and Cory McKinney contributed points. The Saints answered as they earned a 9-2 run as Wright had a pair of three-pointers and Elijah Kimmons (Fr. | Madison, Wis.) also had a three-pointer to give them the 11-10 lead. The remainder of the half was back and forth as the score was tied three times and the lead changed four times between the two teams. Indiana Tech rallied as they went on a 6-0 run with 9:53 left in the half after a jumper was good by Cory Mckinney to push them into the 22-16 lead. The Warriors did not look back as they built on that lead earning their largest lead of the half (40-24) after a 10-0 run after Max Perez, Josh Kline, and David Froedge recorded points. Jace Norton (So. | Portland, Oregon) scored four points for Siena to push the game into intermission with Indiana Tech in the lead 40-27.

The Warriors earned their largest lead of the game (47-29) at the 17:28 mark after Lucas Lehrman made a layup. The Saints went on an 11-4 run with 10:14 left in the game after a layup was good by Joshua Moody (So. | Detroit, Mich.) to cut the deficit to 10 points (58-48). Siena rallied as they went back and forth with Indiana Tech the remainder of the game but they came up short as the Warriors went on a 10-5 run (84-67) running the clock down to give them the win. The Saints outshot the Warriors in three-point percentage (38.1) and free-throw percentage (81.8).

TOP SAINTS

Wright went 7-12 from the floor and 3-6 beyond the arch.

Kimmons earned 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one block. He went 4-8 from the floor, 2-3 on three-point attempts, and 6-7 from the free-throw line.

• Jordan Wyckoff (Sr. | Detroit, Mich.) tallied eight points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Jacob Delmotte (Fr. | Deerfield, Mich.) had a team-high of eight rebounds. Moody had a team-high of five assists.

THE OPPOSITION

• Rog Stein led the Warriors with 17 points, five rebounds, and one assist. He went 5-7 from the floor and 7-7 from the charity stripe.

• Josh Kline contributed 17 points, two rebounds, three assists, and one block. He went 7-12 from the floor and 3-5 of free-throw attempts. 

• Cory McKinney recorded 11 points, a team-high of six rebounds, and a team-high of three steals. 

SEASON WRAP-UP

The Saints finish the 2020-21 season with a 2-10 overall record and a 2-9 conference mark as placed ninth in the WHAC standings. Some highlights of the season included Rice earned a career-high of 29 points, four assists, and five steals in the game against Aquinas on February 10th. Bell earned a career-high of 21 points in his first year as a Saint in the game against UNOH.
