Saints Finish Regular Season with a 117-59 Victory over Wright State-Lake on Senior Day

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball rolled past Wright State-Lake 117-59 on Senior Day while finishing the regular season on Saturday afternoon while Coach Joe Petchocta earned his 100th career win as head coach for the Saints. DeMarco Dickerson (Senior, Detroit, Mich.) led the Siena with a triple-double earning 10 points, a team-high of 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers jumped out to a 12-6 lead after a three-point shot was good by Chaz Hardin at the 17:03 mark. The Saints rallied to take the lead 20-19 as Kevin Smith II (Senior, Columbus, Ohio) made a three-pointer with 14:10 on the clock. Both teams were neck and neck as the score remained close throughout the remainder of the first half. Siena earned some cushion as they had a double-digit lead 39-28 after a pair of free throws were good by Smith with 7:07 left of play. Siena kept the momentum going as they were just shy of a 20-point lead (53-35) after a layup was good by PJ Austin (Senior, Cleveland, Ohio) while a tip-in and a layup were good by Keith Jordan Jr. (Senior, Toledo, Ohio) as the game went into intermission.

The Saints reached their 20-point lead as they scored 14 straight points sparked by a dunk made by Jordan and finished with a three-pointer made by Jon Hovermale (Senior, Livonia, Mich.) at the 14:14 mark. Siena would the go on to score 18 straight points (87-43) sparked by a layup by Kevin Rice (Junior, Detroit, Mich.) and ended with a made three-pointer by Austin with 9:16 left on the clock. The Saints reached the 100-point mark and a 50-point lead (101-50) after Austin made a three-point shot with 5:17 of play. From that point, Siena only allowed Wright State to score nine more points as they scored 16 more points giving them the 117-59 victory.

TOP SAINTS

• Dickerson went 4-9 from the floor and 2-2 from the charity stripe. He also contributed a team-high of three blocks and one steal.

• Austin contributed 31 points, six rebounds, one assist, and two blocks. He went 11-20 from the floor and 9-17 from beyond the arch earning the school record of most three's made in a single game.

• Jordan tallied 24 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. He went 10-15 from the floor, 1-2 on three-point attempts, and 3-5 on free-throw attempts.

• Smith earned 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists. He went 4-5 from the floor, 2-3 from beyond the arch, and 2-2 from the charity stripe. Rice tied for a team-high of three blocks.

THE OPPOSITION

• Tahj Benton led the Lakers with 25 points, two rebounds, a team-high of five assists, and one steal. He went 12-25 from the floor and 1-4 on three-point attempts.

• Chaz Hardin tallied 13 points, a team-high of 12 rebounds, four assists, and a team-high of two steals. He went 3-15 from the floor, 2-6 from beyond the arch, and 5-6 from the charity stripe.

• Tavion Kelley contributed 10 points, one rebound, one steal, and one block. He went 4-11 from the floor, 1-7 on three-point attempts, and 1-2 on free-throw attempts.
