Saints Sneak Past UNOH in First WHAC Win of the Season

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team earned an 89-83 victory over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opponent UNOH on Tuesday night. Keith Jordan Jr. (Senior, Toledo, Ohio) led the Saints with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and became the 38th player in Siena Heights men's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints jumped out to a 4-2 lead but the Racers answered back as the had a 15-7 lead after a layup by Nathan Lessing with 13:43 remaining in the first half. The half continued to be back and forth but UNOH gained a 22-17 lead after a three-point shot was good by Bailey Gardner with 9:14 left. Cade Coleman (Freshman, Davison, Mich.) scored the equalizer for SHU as the score updated to 26-26 at the 5:59 mark. The Racers would earn a 31-26 lead over the Saints at the 4:34 mark after a shot made by Justin Koepp. SHU would cut UNOH's lead by 2 (35-33) after a layup made by Anthony Duncan (Freshman, Kissimmee, Florida) with 2:34 remaining. The Racers scored seven points in the next two minutes to gain the 42-37 lead as each team headed to the locker room for the intermission.

UNOH earned a six-point lead (53-47) after a free throw was good by Koepp with 14:32 remaining. PJ Austin (Senior, Cleveland, Ohio) made a three-point shot for SHU sending the game to a tie as each team had 57's on the board at the 12:21 mark. The second half had lead changes and changes of possession for the majority. UNOH rallied with a four-point lead (78-74) after a pair of free throws made by Tanner Eubank with 3:37 remaining in the game. The Saints pulled away with a four-point lead (87-82) after DeMarco Dickerson (Senior, Detroit, Mich.) drained a 3 point shot at the 1:08 mark. SHU would gain two more points and the last push for the Racers came up short as the Saints held on for the 89-83 win.

TOP SAINTS

• Jordan Jr. shot 8-16 from the floor and 6-8 from the charity stripe. He also added two assists, one steal, and one block to his stat line.

• Dickerson had 22 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds.

• Austin had 13 points, five rebounds, shot 4-8 on the floor, and 4-6 from the 3-point line.

THE OPPOSITION

• Zach Montes had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

• Isaac Golson, Jr. had 19 points and went 7-12 from the floor.

• Justin Koepp had 16 points, seven rebounds, and went 6-7 from the charity stripe.

The Saints face Concordia in a road WHAC contest on Saturday, November 16th. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m., EST.
