Men's Hoops Overcome Lourdes in Final Regular Season Game

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Siena Heights men's basketball team held-on to overcome Lourdes (Ohio) in the regular season finale, winning 68-65 on Saturday.

Siena Heights held on to a seven point lead at the end of the first half, 37-30.

Going into the second half, the Gray Wolves (10-19, 5-17) came out strong slowly gaining on the Saints' lead. With 00:26 remaining on the clock, E.J. Blackwell made two free throws to put LU on top for the first time of the night, 65-64. With 13 seconds left, Christopher Pearl sank a lay-up to get the Saints on top for good. Jerrell Martin sank a pair of free throws as insurance to SHU's three point victory.

Pearl led the Saints with 20 points and seven rebounds. Jerrell Martin added 19 points and six boards while Myles Copeland tacked on 17 points and six rebounds.

Blackwell was the leading scorer of the night, finishing with 26 points. Zach Steinmetz was close behind with 23 points and eight rebounds.

As a team, Siena Heights shot 18-44 (40.9 percent) on the floor, 3-12 (25.0 percent) behind the arc and 29-38 (76.3 percent) from the charity stripe. The Gray Wolves finished 24-49 (49.0 percent) from the field, 4-13 (30.8 percent) in three-point land and 13-18 (72.2 percent) in free throws.

The Saints (10-20, 6-16) await their placement in the post-season WHAC Tournament. The first round is Wednesday, Feb 24; semifinals are Saturday, Feb. 27; the Championship is Monday, Feb.29.
