Heart-breaker for Men's Hoops Against Aquinas

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team dropped a heart-breaker against WHAC opponent Aquinas, falling 65-63 on Wednesday.

The Aquinas Saints led 37-33 going into halftime. The SHU Saints rebounded with steady lead with a jumper by Goodman to go up 45-44 with 12:43 remaining in the game. Siena Heights held its biggest lead of the night, 10 points, with 5:00 left on the clock.

AQ (19-8, 15-4) proceeded to go on a 15-4 run, tying the game up with 00:43 left. Only 00:00.06 was left on the clock when Bryan Mitzner was fouled. Mitzner made both free throws, sealing Siena Heights' fate.

George Goodman was the SHU Saints' leading scorer, finishing with 19 points and six assists. Jerrell Martin scored 13 points and grabbed four boards for SHU.

Aquinas' Jake Bullock ended the game with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists. Zac VanBeek and Mitzner both finished with 12 points a piece.

Overall, Siena Heights finished 25-51 (49.0 percent) from the field, 2-9 (22.2 percent) in three-point land and 11-13 (84.6 percent) from the charity stripe. Aquinas shot 25-52 (42.3 percent) on the floor, 6-22 (27.3 percent) behind the arc and 15-22 (68.2 percent) in free throws.
