Men's Basketball Falls to #1 Davenport

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team fell 72-57 to conference opponent, first-ranked Davenport, on Wednesday.

Davenport (18-3, 12-1) took the early lead in the first half, leading by 11 points with 7:51 remaining. The Saints went on a 13-2 run, eight points coming from Tony Jackson II, to tie the game up, 23-23, with 3:57 left in the first. At halftime, Davenport led 31-26.

The Panthers gradually gained momentum the remainder of the game, reaching their biggest lead of the night, 72-54, 18 points, with 1:47 remaining in the game.

Tremaine Brown and Tony Jackson were the leading scorers for the Saints (8-13, 4-9), scoring 12 points and four rebounds a piece. Christopher Pearl finished with 11 points while Jerrell Martin grabbed 11 boards.

After being held to two points in the first half, Dominez Burnett finished the game with 20 points and nine rebounds for Davenport. Kevin Rich put-up 13 points and Wayne Bradford had 10 points.

Overall, SHU shot 20-44 (45.5 percent) from the field while Davenport shot 28-56 (50.0 percent).

Siena Heights will be back in action when they travel to Concordia for a 1 p.m. tip-off, on Saturday.
